Will rest cure Ishant Sharma

It is obvious that Ishant Sharma has faded after the New Zealand tour. What is not obvious is the reason behind his loss of form.

Some have suggested that Ishant is finding the Twenty20 format difficult to adapt and hence his dismal performances in the IPL 2009 and the World Twenty20.

However, others have suggested that Ishant needs a rest cure and the selection committee should have omitted him from this purposeless ODI series against the West Indies.

They reason that he (Ishant) has started to wane because of overwork and he needs rest to find his form.

What do you believe is the reason behind his lack of form?

since his debut he is carrying the weight of expectations and world load (zaheer absence initially dint help either)...

now he is one the verge of last ounce of energy...his mind is willing but not body...let him take rest...it will not only heal his body but break can actually help him out to sort out his game...bowling and approach...which can not happen in the midst of heat...

WE WILL SEE FEW MORE CASUALITIES AFTER THE WINDIES TOUR. MOST OF THE LOOK TIRED BUT ARE AFRAID OF DROPPING THEMSELVES.

Pan,

Good point. Wonder why they selected him for this inconsequential series.

Lviss,

Your are right, though Dhoni talks about players volunteering to rest themselves, it will not happen as they fear someone might replace them permanently.

Don't forget his stint with the Kolkata Knight Riders. Anybody would be burned with having played for them

Agreed Krish, his stint with KKR would have deprived him of his energy.
