In essence, India plays two games and the Sri Lankan cricket board is hoping that TV Broadcasters will cough up more for the broadcasting rights and the broadcasters in turn are hoping that companies will pay through their nose if India qualifies for the finals.
BCCI’s willingness to help their southern neighbour to make money is unsurprising, but considering that the Champions Trophy follows immediately in October, BCCI should have exercised better judgment and saved the Indian team from marring its chances by falling prey to injuries.

At some point, we are going to see too many players exhausted and injured outside the team than playing in the team.

Not yet. The Twenty20 has infused life into the (cash) cow.
I understand Ten Sports have made a killing in this ongoing India -West Indies series.
caring for the players? what's that. BCCI doesnt know anything lousy like that. We at BCCI worship money. The more the better. Even if it means that the players careers will end with some injury.

At least the BCCI should have the good sense to see, as Lviss points out, that their cash cow is well.
A Champions Trophy failure may well reduce the allure of the Indian team.
