In typical BCCI fashion or should we say Niranjan Shah fashion, the BCCI reacts to India's humiliating defeat against Sri Lanka:
What do you say?
“It is disturbing that we lost despite having senior players like Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, Sourav Ganguly and V.V.S. Laxman in the team. We need to look into the matter,” said Shah, reacting to India’s humiliating innings and 239-run defeat.Atta Boy! Niranjan Shah take a look and sack the whole lot.
What do you say?

Oh come on. Just a few months ago these seniors were winning you test matches in Australia and England and the Windies and against SA and Pak at home... Just 1 failure and ur after their backs. Typical Indian fans ;-)
Q,
Actually, there is strong under current here at least among the blogging community that these seniors have over stayed their welcome.
My question is why Ott?
The last test these seniors played they drew with Australia. The one before that they won.
They won aagainst Pak and aghainst SA.
They won in England and the Windies.
Laxman always scores. Ganguly has been the best of the lot. Sachin got a 150 in that last test against the Aussies. Sehwag got a 150 in that same match. Dravid has been slightly out of form but that happens to the best...
So why?
Q,
I suspect it is due to boredom.
Hahah.. thats an amazing excuse ott ;-)
@q: We may sometimes be fickle in our support. I don't think they should go from test matches as yet - but I do think they deserve abundant criticism. How can they manage to score only 350 runs in 2 innings and not even drag it to the 5th day. It was a heavy defeat. I am sure a young team can match this performance.
Where was the fighting attitude, the confidence? Did their experience add any value? The spinners did not do well either...
But I think/hope they will turn it around in the next match and I will gush about their performance :-)
RS - no doubt they deserve criticism but they deserve criticism for their performance in this colombo test match only.
Its not only Indian fans, but us Pakistani do the same - 1 bad game and jump for the players' necks.
Criticism for the way they played in this match is all well and good but to demand their sacking is totally uncalled for in my opinion.
Q,
Uh! Uh! I was kidding Niranjan Shah. :)
Ottayan, I did NOT expect this from you. I know you're an anti-seniors person, but this was a bit "out-of-charecter". :) Sack 'em all, then where will you go? To the Yuvrajs and the Uthappas? They won't last 10 overs even when put togather and have got too much fame now to even bother to learn. This is a good Test side. As Q points out, we've won in Aus (yes the last series was won 2-1 as far as I'm concerned, Syndey was ours), we've won against a good South African side (though on a crumbling Kanpur pitch), against a rather weak Pakistan and against Eng in Eng. That should count in their defense. It is the lack of self-belief that should get the most criticism. I have no other rants.
ott, are you taking the piss?
doubt the bcci has any favorites these days, they may even invest in another sport.
VMM,
I was taking a dig at my friend Niranjan Shah! He constantly comes out with these pompous statements.
Less seriously, at least with the youngsters you do not have these inflated expectations.:)
BTW, Rohit, Badrinath and Venugopala Rao are the youngsters I am looking at.
NC,
No I was clean when I wrote that.:)
badri yes. and amit mishra.
NC,
Your partisan nature is showing.:)
Ott, if it was Niranjan shah, then dig on. As for your pick, I'm not so sure abt Rohit Sharma now. The other two, I'm with you. While they won't be really replacements in the true sense of the word, they are certainly a bet for the future (I repeat, future) :)
aye... after so many years, every match is a witch hunt... bring out the effigies, salad spoons and forks.. let's mend'is thing.
Scorpi,
"mend'is thing - good one.
