ICC Champions Trophy: India vs. Australia

Semifinal berth at stake

Harbhajan Singh will be the difference

The Indian cricket team is facing a familiar predicament. By losing to Pakistan, team India is on the brink of elimination. The only way out is to win 2 matches in succession in order to book its berth for the ICC Champions Trophy semifinal.

This is where today's match gains significance. This match against the Australian's will be the decider. If India loses then it will abruptly terminate India's trophy ambitions.

Considering the manner in which Australia steamrolled England in the ODI series recently, Indian cricket fans have every reason to feel dispirited.

However, they can take heart from the fact that Australia has repeatedly succumbed to spin bowling. Even in their opening match against West Indies, the Australian batting stuttered against a virtually unknown spinner.

This where Harbhajan Singh's spin can make victory possible. He has to come out of his restrictive ways and bowl in the Test match mode. To put it succinctly he has to spin the ball.

Having said that, the onus still lies with the blow hot blow cold batsmen. The result will hinge on whether their form.
