THE India Emerging Players beat South Africa in the Final of the 2009 Emerging Players Cricket Tournament at the Allan Border Field, Brisbane today.
South Africa was the top team in the tournament by emerging unscathed during the preliminary rounds while India was iffy in the earlier part of the tournament.
The South Africans elected to field on winning the toss and their daring brought them instant reward.
They had India tottering at 7 for 2 before Kohli put India back in the game with partnerships with Badrinath and Nayar.
However, it was Kohli’s partnership with Saha, which put India in a position of strength. Saha’s effort was also praiseworthy. Having lost Kohli with 15 over’s remaining in the innings, Saha ably shepherded them through and helped India score 283 runs.
Thankfully, for India, the South Africans followed the pattern established by their seniors and choked during the chase.
The South Africans, were bowled out for 266 in 46.2 over’s with Sudeep Tyagi taking four wickets for 72 runs. Amit Mishra who not only choked the runs but also struck crucial blows ably supported him.

As far as choking consistency is concerned, South Africa's future looks in safe hands:)
I agree, that the South African's have managed inculcate the choking culture in their juniors.:)
