Why four day test?

International Cricket CouncilImage via Wikipedia

ICC is considering four-day test matches among other innovations.

However, I ask, why four day tests if there are "better over-rates, better pitches that give a good balance between bat and ball".

I understand the ICC Cricket Committee needs to come up with one weird thing after another to justify their presence. But when ICC president says something like that, you sense the rot has started from the top. You have not done anything to keep alive Test cricket. Show the decency and allow it a normal death.

Are you concurring with Chris Gayle?

ICC should first stop bending for BCCI and then decide something about the game.

Am not so sure if Tests will die off, but 50 overs matches surely cant stand up to T20 and are destined to die.

Philip,

I beleive all formats will survive. About ODI's- if I have to watch a crT20 match that starts say around 3 p.m. IST, I will have to perforce take leave.

In that sense, I would prefer taking a day's leave to watch a day's cricket.( 50 overs match).

What I am driving at is that the each will have their own audience.formats
