The thing about aura is, it will last 20 minutes and then the reality sets in, and that's when you really have to put it together, ball after ball after ball after ball. That's how you build pressure and affirm your position in the game.
I admit to being impressed by Hayden's knowledge of the game. This new found liking makes me wonder whether the Australian's have lost the aura of invincibility.

ott - buchanan stopped me from reading any more. he's a real Haura
Ott, definitely sounds like they've lost the aura.
@NC, have you read Buchanan's book? I'm curios.
Heyden is torn between his love for IPL and his native team .First time they r talking abt invincibility nervously.
What he says about aura is true. However, there are ways to keep that aura going. McGrath did that successfully against Sachin.
He wasn't taken in by Sachin's aura and got im a few times. Then it became a McGrath aura which was compounded by Brian Lara who initially got out trying to massacre mcGrath till he found this man was a little different.
And McGrath kept up his aura with performance supplemented by so many other things.
Now men are growing old. Resistance now jars their ageing bones through the thick padding of flesh, fat and skin around them. Constant and continued resistance produces stress fractures on those ageing bones...and the props crack. The halo tumbles and wisdom sets in....perhaps even to the extent of a suggestion of admittance to what is taboo to admit.
The Australian Wonder Years know they have been resisted and resisted well and continuously well...they know they they only got away by their Buck-skins in the last series at home....the stress fractures are bound to reveal themselves.
Ott man...there's something not quite right about your feed...I mean the RSS feed. It doesn't work.
You have my e-mail ID...could you please mail me the url of your feed source?
Thanks.
NC,
I ask you the same question VMM asked, have you read Buchannan's book?
If so let us know your take.
VMM,
Yes the current crop does not have an aura as they are relatively new.
All said and done I think they have a couple legends in the making.
Plus, Hussey has the aura.
What do you say?
R,
Hayden has made a fine distinction between them.
If I am not mistaken, what he says is anyone can have an aura, but if you do not deliver then it is shattered and you are shown up as an object of ridicule.
BTW, the second part of Hayden's shows the Australian work ethics and also a clue to how they developed their aura - to paraphrase Hayden they did it ball by ball every day of the year.
Soulberry,
You are spot on. If you take Warne, at the beginning of his career and especially after his first match, I am sure no one including Warne, would have thought he will end up with this huge reputation.
The MacGrath's, Warne's did it by sheer talent and application.
Having said that, I think the current Australian team is no push over.
Ott, I liked Hussey too. He's got that "something" around him. Michael Clarke (Pup) has the nastiness aura that Ponting has, but I'm afraid not as much ability. Apart from Hussey the "legend in the making" might be Katich - seemed impressive.
VMM,
Did you notice there is not one bowler in our list?
Surely, bowling wise they are struggling?
Yep! It certainly looks that way. Johnson seems OK, but he has a long way to get near greatness.
VMM,
Even the Australians do not regard him highly.:)
