Twenty20 Champions Trophy: Is it ‘fixed’?

Over at Anything Sporty, RS asks some pertinent questions about Chennai SuperKings and BCCI’s request to push back a Test match by a day in order to let Dhoni continue playing in the Champions Trophy.

In the ensuing discussions, Scorpicity wondered “either way why do they assume that CSK will be in the finals”.

Well, that is exactly the same question I want to ask albeit in a different manner, has the BCCI ensured CSK’s passage to the finals?

What do you think, dear reader, have they ‘fixed’ the tournament?

Ott,

It will be a stretch to think in terms of a "fix" - it will take the connivance of 8 teams and 3 Boards to get it done..

I think someone in India Cements saw the itinerary and had a major tantrum that their star player and captain could miss out on the finals if the team went all the way.

This led to panic in the BCCI and hence this concession from the ECB ( since they are "negotiating", why not "negotiate" even this).

Cheers,

My guess would be it is wishful thinking and suddenly someone realizing that the schedule is not idea. Plus they are the only team to fork out $400,000 which supposedly makes them one of the stronger teams?

To start with, I don't know if the Indian public would throng a stadium to watch two clubs from other countries battle it out. If the Indian version side is not there, it is a miss for the match and that has been the tradition and behaviorism of the Indian public in the past. I would be rather surprised if that changed.

The stakes are high and there might be that possibility of a fix but I go with Homer on the ones with India cements throwing a tantrum.

Either way I know the ones who are behind the CSK site... maybe I will query them for an answer :)

But this tournament is rubbish... they could have had something of this sort later on.

Thanks for the mention... cheers

Homer,

It is a stretch to imagine Srinivasan was not privy to the schedule.:)

RS,

I doubt that they suddenly woke up. It appears more like some weighed the possibilities and found CSK has a chance.:)

Scorpi,

I believe this tournament will catch on. I am eager for it to start.
