It is all over bar the shouting. According to Srikkanth Yuvraj is the front-runner for the slot vacated by Saurav Ganguly. Poor Badrinath, he can pack his bags and go back to domestic cricket.
By revealing his hand, Srikkanth has clearly indicated that the performance in the ODI counts, domestic cricket be damned.
BTW, Badrinath scored his16th first class century yesterday.

came too late for him i guess...
however good badri is but you can't ignore the thunderous knocking of an attack which is going to be more or less the same on tests...so advantage yuvi at the moment on this count...
badri should not loose hope...should keep knocking the door...there's still 5 more matches to be played and anything can happen...
Pan,
We have seen it before. Remember how everyone wanted to use his form and pushed him into the Test team thus making an out of form Dravid open in Australia.
The same thing is happening again. Let us not be carried away by his ODI form.
Wait a second,
Even before the ODI series against England began, the selectors had made it known that current form would count and not past performances. They clearly said that form in the ODI series would help them make their decision on Ganguly's replacement.
So this is no secret.
Its all here: http://content-gulf.cricinfo.com/indveng/content/story/378010.html
Q,
Then it is unfortunate. Next time anyone talks about the sanctity of the longer format, it should be considered as blabbering of an idiot.
He also said others are still in the fray...
Ott,
Badri is a very good player. But he has not carried his success to international matches. Guess he has failed to bridge the gap..
after srt and msd, clearly, ys has the most powerful image in indian cricket. and often enough, the star player wins, and the player loses. Badri is but a player. spiked hair doesn't a star make, but it doesn't do no harm either - glad he's trying.
Soulberry,
It is a small consolation. :)
Tri,
He has played 3 ODI's out which, he played a great hand to win it for India. The other two he came in when the need was to slog.
I believe 3 internationals are insufficient to make a mark.
When you contrast this with Yuvraj who has been playing internationals (only) for the last 8 years then it becomes obvious that Yuvraj has some powerful backers.
NC,
If image makes a champion then we are in for a rough ride.:)
when he opened his mouth I knew his chances will be shut sooner than expected. I am not surprised.
R,
Yes he must have harmed his chances with that intemperate outburst.
Time to show a hand to Pujara too... badri, he didn't get to play in a test yet right?
Looks like balaji is back. Poor Badri, Vijay's growth will hurt it bad...Because you can never have 2 players from Tamil Nadu play..
Slogger,
I agree with you, it appears events have overtaken his prospects.
