Shane Watson is an excellent example. He wormed his way back into the Australian squad, purely because of his astounding performances in the IPL League.
The same can said for Albie Morkel, whose reputation as a cricketer largely rests on his Twenty20 performances. The South African's have chosen to play against England in the ODI's.
So why nations and cricketers posture as if the Twenty20 games do not matter.

Yusuf is the only Indian to have got the chance from T20, and that too for one series only. So maybe, just like any other factor, it just brings them into limelight - nothing more?
RS...what more you require from a T20 event...
marsh, watson, morket and pathan all got into limelight thanks to T20 cricket...but while marsh, watson and morkel grabbed the opportunities YP blew it splendidly...
RS,
Yusuf is an excellent example. You can also add Rohit Sharma and Ojha to the list.
I agree with you that Twenty20 brings them into the limelight, but then why do the selectors talk down on the skills.( REf: Vengsarkar's statement)
Pan,
We seem to have simultaneously posted our comments.:)
Pity Yusuf blew his chances.
What they fear is that it will be T20 alone in future. I wont be surprised if it happens. I am ready to hear the final word first on Odi .
