Indian cricket’s enigmatic Dinesh Kaarthick

Once considered India’s future Captain, first choice wicket- keeper and opening batsmen, Kaarthick’s relegation to the fringes of the Indian team is enigmatic.
It is enigmatic in the sense that after the high of the overseas tour of England, where he had the best batting average, Kaarthick simply lost his game in India: a place where most Indian batsmen regain their form.
Not only did he lose his opening slot to his friend Wasim Jaffer, he also lost his place in the team as a wicket keeper due to poor batting form.
It would be simplistic to attribute Kaarthick’s fall to the emergence of Dhoni. The cause lies elsewhere. One can count his marriage as the primary cause, because for some, marriage, that too after a long courtship, provides a satisfying sense of achievement that they lose their edge and hunger for success.
One hopes that he rids himself of complacency and forges forward in his career.

Karthiks fate was sealed when he was touted as a future captain. Until that hapnd he was quite sure of his place. U know who started this captaincy thing first.
Marriage could not have been the cause of his wavering form. It can make it a bit snopy here and there. YEs there are other factors . To add to his woes parthiv is playing boldly and with success.

R,

Somehow Parthiv is uninspiring. If there is word equivalent to 'trundler' for wicketkeepers, then he is it.:)

Marriage eh... hmm... don't think he will be pleased :)... looks like he has started scoring runs.

Is his wife traveling with him?

Future captain eh? When were they saying this and who did? I must have missed this little tidbit.

As for Karthik, yes, he seemed unbelievably talented and fit the bill with some good batting. But his form deserted him against Pak and then there is also Dhoni. To me, Karthik deserves a place in the Test squad (form permitting) over Dhoni on the strengths of his batting. I would like to see him oust Dhoni, but am I dreaming?

And yes, I believe his wife does travel with him.

VMM,

I am with you on this. I prefer Kaarthick over Dhoni for Tests.
Both his keeping and batting are much better.
