England itinerary- Chepauk misses out again

Really ludicrous.South India has been totally ignored.

The furthest they reach Dakshin India is Mumbai.

Then we all know that it is in the West.

One fails to understand why Chennai misses out again.

To understand my gripe, here is the itinerary according to Cricinfo.

November 6, 2008 England arrive in Mumbai
November 9 One-day warm-up match, Mumbai

November 11 One-day warm-up match, Mumbai

November 14 1st ODI v India, Rajkot

November 17 2nd ODI v India, Indore

November 20 3rd ODI v India, Kanpur

November 23 4th ODI v India, Jamshedpur

November 26 5th ODI v India, Cuttack

November 29 6th ODI v India, Guwahati

December 2 7th ODI v India, Delhi

December 5-7 Three-day warm-up match, Baroda

December 11-15 1st Test v India, Ahmedabad

December 19-23 2nd Test v India, CCI Mumbai

Monsoons will be the excuse (and maybe a legitimate one for Chennai) :-) Though they can venture further south.

Just read that ECB is not happy with the itinerary either.

RS,

Monsoon or not they could have played an ODI at least.

I am glad that ECB also wants its team to play in Chennai. :)

Bangalore hosts Australia in October. Chennai hosted South Africa earlier in the year.

Homer,

Agreed. For the last 10 years we haven't seen the English.

Can this be because, BCCI wants to assist IPL in gauging the next set of probable IPL Teams from this second tier cities?
I remember reading that ADAG waiting to pitch for Ahmedabad...

a fan,

Welcome back. You seemed to have faded out. I find your posts on your work/day life very entertaining.

Coming to the topic at hand, that is a possibility, but they could have fitted in an ODI.

Having any match in chennai at that time of the year is always chancey. They would have taken this into consideration.

Otts......... chill man......... chennai just hosted a test match against South Africa.. All venues should get a chance mate

Apurv,

It is the principle of the thing. :)

Yeah! A pity really. Nov-Dec in the only time in Chennai you can walk around without worrying abt the heat too much. Besides, I don't think it rains that heavily during this time, though this is technically the season. At least, last year it didn't.

Ideally, Jan 11 onwards would be ideal.
