Here he analyses what makes Mendis tick:
"We play Kumble (Anil) more often it is the fast delivery that tends to come in that is lethal. But if you are playing Mendis most of the time when he flights the ball it is a googly or off spinner," he explained.
"But when he bowls a flatter one, it is generally a leg spinner and when you play inside the line like you play Kumble you will be in trouble," Dhoni said.

If you listened to Ian Chappell yesterday, this theory is crap.
Yuvraj was playing outside the line of the ball and was bowled by a quicker delivery and hence one can say that he was following the theory mentioned by Dhoni. But Raina was bowled slogging, Sehwag was stumped to a short faster one, and Rohit played the wrong line to a flighted legspinnner (not a quicker legspinner as suggested by Dhoni). It was just a very poor batting effort against a good spin bowler.
The best players of spin bowling(Laxman, Lara, Sachin Mark Waugh) read and played them by picking them from their hands. The worst(Cullinan, Robin Smith,etc )had theories to play them and hence struggled. Like our young batsmen yesterday.

We r yet to come to a conclusion whether mendis is an off spinner or leg spinner. Dhoni is talking abt googly which means he is a leg spinner. From what little we saw of him he is a kind of an improved Murali. It will take some time to place his line. We love to theorise evry thing in cricket and Dhoni has just done that. Hope they dont name it reverse googly.
