The Board of Control in India, which oversaw the IPL, has not signed
up to the World Anti-Doping Agency regulations so it was unclear what
penalties could be imposed. The issue could prove to be a major embarrassment because the IPL
may only be able to suspend the player from its own tournament and he
may be free to continue playing international Test or one-day cricket.
However, the International Cricket Council, which confirmed the initial
positive test, has promised to monitor the matter closely.
Over and above this loophole Asif can exhaust quiet a few others.
Knowing the Indian penchant for short cuts, he can challenge the 'B' sample by claiming it was not kept in sterile conditions or go so far as to claim the sample itself was not his.
Alternatively, he can claim some one used black magic and contaminated his sample.
Lets see which one he employs.

"As with any AAF that arises during a testing programme organised by one of the ICC's Members, it is the responsibility of that Member, in this case the BCCI, to deal with the process in a timely and fair manner," the ICC statement read.

With the ICC ready to do absolutely nothing, there is very little the BCCI cn do.
Even otherwise, the BCCI's locus extends only to the IPL, it cannot dictate the fate of a player affiliated to another Board.
Cheers,
I believe he'd go for the 1st option :) But i guess the BCCI cannot do anything about this anymore n the matter is in the hands of the ICC
HE will play in IPL I think.
don't need tests, just some ipl footage -this guy was stoned outta his skull while bowling. 3D's loss is 3D's gain.
So a reprieve is available. Homer makes a valid point...there's little BCCI can do beyond a point as long as ICC washes its hands off the matter...and as Gaurav says, 3D's loss is 3D's gain.
Excellent point, Homer. The onus is on PCB.
Arun,
Glad to see you here.Yes, the issue has to be dealt elsewhere.
However, the BCCI should also take care that our players do not embarrass us in a similar fashion.
R,
Surely no. Modi is trying to make IPL an model tournament.
NC,
3D's loss is 3D's gain. :)
Soulberry,
PCB should just ban him.
