Guiding a team of no - hoppers to a tournament win appears to have given him the platform to let fly at some of his former Captains.
In an interview, Warne claims he played under a few average captains in his life time.
Should we conclude that Warne is expressing his frustrations or do we conclude he has gotten a swollen head?

Trade Ponting to RR and see how they gel:-) And Warne just loves the limelight. I think he likes the press conferences more than any other captain.
The average captains will reply to him very soon. If u look at it carefully captaining an aus side is not a very difcult thing. u only have to hand over the ball.
More of the same from Warney. He doesn't like Steve Waugh, but loves Border and Taylor. I'm inclined to believe that he rates Ponting as a captain - Warne put him at 8 in his top 50 players, and called him 'excellent'.
Perhaps Warne was concussed when he said this, having fallen off his BMX bike at some promotional event yesterday, and was actually referring to Mike Hussey's ODI captaincy record (4 games, 4 losses).
I believe Warne had a very positive effect on Ponting's captaincy skills, with Ponting consulting him during games time and time again.
warne's riding the wave. not long before he rattles of his all time best lists - captains, teams, players, Aussies, Sachin's innings. But then Warne is smarter than that, he'll find new ways perhaps. Mostly cricketing this time.
heheh....it was a smarty pant open comment which everybody could have done without...he was a great captain in the IPL and does prove a lot by his performance...
I guess let him be human and get a swollen head for now...he has shown it on the field...not just talking in the air...
Border, Taylor, and Waugh were outstanding so I guess Warne referred to Ponting.. maybe even Gilly - he did captain a few ODIs and tests in which Warne played..
Q, you can be certain that Warne was calling Waugh a mediocre captain.
But why DB? Waugh definitely took the team forward after taking over from Taylor and was hardly the average captain.
Warne doesn't like Waugh. Waugh was put 26th in Warne's list of best cricketers that he played with/against, and this was the sum total of praise he gave:
"Yes, he scored a lot of runs, but to me he was a match-saver rather than a match-winner. That is why he is not higher. There were also times when he struggled against the short ball. But he had good all-round capabilities and was always reliable in the gully. Mark Taylor handed him a wonderful team."
I don't know what the history behind the two is. We can guess that Warne thought that he himself should have been made captain.

Yeah I guess ur right, Warne probably though he should have been captain.
I disagree though - sure Taylor handed Waugh a wonderful team but Waugh took them further. A lot further.
Plus I think Hayden, Langer, Martyn, Lehmann all made their test comebacks under Waugh. Even Gilly made his debut under Waugh..
So it was hardly the team Taylor had or gave.
I don't think that anyone really agrees with Warne when it comes to Steve Waugh.
