Pakistan's non- participation is one of the intriguing aspects surrounding the Twenty20 Championship league.
With a well established Twenty20 league of its own, one would expected their finalists to be a part of the Championship league. However, there was no mention of a Pakistan Twenty20 team playing in it.
Now to add more confusion," Nasim Ashraf, the Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Thursday claimed that one team from Pakistan would also be seen in action at the $5 million Champions League".
Is this an attempt by the PCB to force the issue or did the organisers of the Championship league have a change of heart?

I didnt quite get the subject u r discussing but the object was quite distracting.
The idea was to attract with the subject and distract with the object.
Hmm... when the champions league was first mentioned in November - December, Pakistan was always a part of it.
It continues to be mentioned that 10 teams will take part - IPL, Aus, SA, Eng, Pak till the news of last week where some sort of official announcement was made that did not include Pakistan - I believe that was done to reduce the no. of teams cause of a shorter timeframe for the tournament.
Nasim Ashraf was apparently miffed, and rightly so, that Pak has been ditched since they were told otherwise so he has come out saying 1 team will take part.
I hear Ashraf is meeting with some BCCI board members today in Bangladesh to discuss the issue.
I also hear a domestic 20-20 competition has been planned for August and the winner of that will play in Septembers champions league if it happens.
Q,
There is no reason to exclude Pakistan.
So these announcements seem mysterious.
BTW, whats happening to our friend Asif?
Is his goose cooked?
Asif's case will now be heard on the 22nd. Its been taken up by the Attorney general here. He's still in the detention centre at the Dubai airport...
Q,
Why the delay? Is he doomed?
I dont think hes doomed just yet Ott. The delay has been due to a number of reasons - firstly the courts here were closed due to mourning, then the weekends - friday and saturday, no matter hiw big the urgency, no public office works during those 2 days... then there was a delay in getting test results on asif and the substance.. then there was the tug of war between who will be representing Asif - the PCB, the Pal Embassy, or the UAE cricket board... for some reason all 3 authorities had different ways to get Asif free.. at the end what happened was that he UAE CB tried first, then the PCB, and now the embassy is involved..
There are a lot of question marks which I still havent been able to figure out - the biggest one being, why was Asif checked at the transit lounge at Dubai airport?
When ur in transit at Dubai airport, u dont pass through any customs check.
Either way, still no case has been registered against him and he is still in custody at the airport detention centre which is better than being at Dubai jail.
Q,
Asif had 3 hours before the connecting flight. So he wanted to go out. He was checked because he wanted to go out.
That not true Ott. He did not have a visa to get out. He was checked at the transit lounge. There is more to what we are being told...
That's a hideous image... is that Nasim Ashraf in the pic... looks like him :)
