The war of words between Ganguly – Warne is pure competitiveness. However how do you account for the following?
Do you agree that if not for IPL these would have been unimaginable
1. Warne speaking of Smith as an International Captain, emphasizing the word Captain to draw attention to Smith's pristine reputation. Surely, it would have been too much for an Australian to acknowledge a South African thus.
2. Ganguly will find no sympathy for his actions other than from his most rabid fans. This would have been unimaginable if not for the disappointment among Indian cricket fans about their cricketers post Bhajji – Sreesanth slap gate.

the guy has lost last four matched on trot...he needs this to divert attention from the fact that he cant bat, bowl and field...
at least give this much to ganguly OTT... ;-))
More than the fact that Ganguly spoke to umpire and did not take Smith's version, what shows him in poor light is being late for their innings.. Even in Chennai, he made Dhoni wait before he turned up for the toss.. Somebody has to give it back to him.. Thanks that Warne did it.. Hmm. an Indian supporting an Australian over an Indian... God! IPL has surely changed the cricket world.. :)

Pan,
He seems to have disappointed you.
Robin,
He did it to our Dhoni is it?
How dare he do it our icon?
Now you understand the reason for my dislike.
How can Ganguly be so sure about the catch when it was taken near the boundary? Frustration, I guess.
Lazybug,
Yep. Maybe the very thought of facing SRK gave him the jitters.
There have been a few bad decisions in the match. Ganguly was ultimately proved right that the catch was not on.He shd not have pressurised the umpire though.
Any catch taken with a full length lounge looks suspicious to me. To be frank no fielder will say the catch was not properly taken when he had made some somersaulting effort to hold on to it.Just think over it and u will get an answer.Incidentally If a player comes in late he can be declared out.He is given a specified time to come in .U will remember Pakistan lost a match that way.
The real blame game between teams will start from now and u will see players belonging to a country supporting their their men in slow whispers.
Ah the beauty of the IPL. Ive been saying it all along.
And now I finally know why Ottayan calls Straight Point, Pan :-)
You write, "Warne is pure competitiveness. However how do you account for the following?"
But that's the point: he's so competitive that he would even cite Graeme Smith, a once-rival, to make his point. When you're trying to make an argument, you use every piece of data and source you can find, regardless of what you personally think of its merits.
In other words, pure, sheer competitiveness. Warne, once again.
Never heard of Dhoni complaining . Whichever way the matter goes ganguly will match Warne word for word.
Q,
Yes the beauty of IPL. :)
Duckingbeamers,
Firstly a warm welcome. It is a pleasure to see you here.
So the credit for this situation goes to Warne's competitiveness. :)
