The Champions league in all probability will be played in India during November.
Here are some sketchy details. :-(
The format will be eight teams, the winners and runners-up of the IPL and domestic competitions in England, South Africa and Australia. It is unlikely to be a straight knockout because no team will wish to travel to India for one match.

If they play in Nov many matches will be washed out in rain. U will remember the IPL suspended a match becoz telecast has not started due to some technical glitch.
Ott its going to be 10 teams and not 8. You forgot Pakistan.
Its going to be a week long tournament.
Final might be played at Lords.
The entire tournament might be held in England. India is not confirmed location.
But one important issue to be dealt with is how the league is going to deal with players who are in the line up of 2 teams... For example if Chennai Super Kings takes part in the IPL final.. For which team would Albie Morkel play?...
Chennai Super Kings or Titans (Pro 20 Champions)...
Will have to wait and see how they resolve all these issues?..

Well Victoria are in this league, and White, Hussey and Hodge have all said they will play for Victoria ahead of any IPL teams.
CSK fan - this has already been discussed and it will be up to the players to decide who they want to play for.
R,
Thats a possibility. From the news report I understand that November is the only slot available.
Q,
Oh! Would it be up and running by then?
Robin/UncleJ,
Q has provided us with the answer.
Ott, Pakistan has had its 20-20 domestic competition every year since 2005. They've had 3 thus far.
Karach Zebras (Afridi's team) are the champions and Sialkot Stallions (Shoaib Malik's team) are the runners up. So I guess it will be these 2 teams that take part in the Champions League.
When Lalit Modi announced it he mentioned Pakistan is involved.
Q,
PCB was talking about its own IPL. Which is that?
Oh the PPL is being planned on the lines of the IPL with franchises and all. The plans for that should all be put into action during the 2nd half of this year with the tournament to be held sometime next year.
But for the Champions league the current domestic 20-20 teams are good to represent.
Q,
That could be the reason why Pakistan is ignored for the first edition of the Champions League.
Please use your good offices and clarify.
Ottayan my dear friend, Pakistan doesn't need to have a PPL for representation in the champions league. It has a 20-20 domestic competition like England, SA, and Australia.
Either way here is te confirmation:
"Details of the Champions League have been informally firmed up over the last few weeks during discussions between top BCCI officials and those from Cricket Australia, Cricket South Africa, Pakistan Cricket Board and crucially, the England and Wales Cricket Board, a senior official who is close to the negotiations, said."
