Somehow, one viewed with suspicion the announcement of this or that English cricketer rejecting an IPL offer. One all ways felt that an English cricketer puts money over country and cricket. (Read about the numerous apartheid tours here).
The skepticism is further accentuated by the fact that one of the first people to make a song and dance of the rejection was Pietersen. We all know where he comes from and where he stands now.
So, one is not surprised to read this.
Dimitri Mascarenhas, England's only representative at the IPL, believes the recent spate of players around county cricket saying they have turned down offers to play in India is because counties haven't given their permission rather than the players not wanting to go.

Players all over the world are like the ventriloquist's muppet. Boards ensure, mostly, that they utter what is required of them or suggested to them.
I don't know if I am missing any English players, their best T20 player is here...Dmitri Mascar...perhaps one would have liked to see young English players seize this opportunity to familiarize themselves with the subcontinental cricketing ethos and gain from it.
They needn't have to look far...just across the globe to Australia...folllowing regular defeats here and players having adjustment problems with the Indian crowds and conditions, they made sure to travel oftener to India on private basis and began taking up assignments here (ad and chat show, charity and stuff like that)...that helped them become comfortable and ultimately they are winning.

I have link you.
Soulberry,
I agree with you. However, increasingly I can't but assume that the when it comes to cricket, the English are hypocritical.
Cricketgod,
Thank you.
When they open a big door for ipl next year u will see lot of these people sneaking in. U cant blame them , they must have read abt the impact, monetary and otherwise ,the ipl is having on cricket. One more thing, it is always nice to play in front of huge crowds which the cricket comands here. It will be more colurful if England players also join.
actually I would not want to see the english cricketers here... very few worth watching.
