After the first stage of bidding, it was evident that the Royal Challengers had bid for players in the Dravid mould. One would go so far as to speculate that Rahul Dravid got the Royal Challengers management to let him decide the team.
Unfortunately, as pointed out by most the bloggers, the team consists of excellent players who are more suited to the longer versions of the game. Players like Kallis, Dravid and even Jaffer to name a few are ideal for ODI's and Test cricket, but as Twenty20 players, they struggle.
The sad part is even after playing six games and comprehensively outplayed in four of them, they refuse to look at the truth in the eye. If they still entertain hope, then ruthlessness is called for. Get rid of Jaffer and Kallis, play Kohli down the order and keep Dravid's sidekicks like Sunil Joshi at arms length.
However, these changes will remain mere window dressing if Dravid remains the Captain. He is yet to feel the ebb and flow of the Twenty20 games in his blood. In addition, it is surprising to see a man known for his never say die attitude seems reluctant to have the same attitude as a Captain. He looks and acts like a man who has his fate foretold.
If they fail to do the necessary weeding, the Royal Challenger fans will have to be satisfied with their Washington Redskin cheerleaders and their jouncing anatomical wonders.
P.S. Lest we be accused of being satisfied with pointing out problems, may we dare suggest Dravid handover his crown of thorns to Boucher?

money works wonder to human mind OTT...
otherwise how one can explain that they deemed it fit to not to be included for national duty in world cup of T20 on saying its youngster's game and then insisting on playing the same game for some fancy team?
the answer is simple...
Pan,
Other than money, Dravid has taken it upon himself to prove that he and other discards like Kallis are fit for Twenty20.
I wonder what Mallya is thinking about his team.
I think its sightly harsh to blame Dravid. He has played two gems in his last two matches, unfortunately the team has not clicked. Yesterdays bowling effort on a helpfull pitch was shambolic and a classic example of how the team is disillusioned. Kallis has been probably the failure of the tournament and needs to be replaced by either Chnderpaul or Cameron White.
Apurv,
I feel he is an unimaginative and uninspiring Captain.
Yes,he seems to have found his groove .
Kallis and Jaffer are disappointments.
The problem with them is simple .They have only three gears in their batting box.The fourth one is stuck. And they hand over the ball to Kumble, the bowler with nil temperament, for death. They almost lost the last match. They can shuffle their order a bit and try to give it a new look.It may still work.
YEs MR Mallya will be a worried man.
Dravid and Jaffer are not good enough to play ODIs either Ott. Atleast thats what Dhoni and the BCCI think.
Kallis maybe but there are people who feel he shud be far away from ODIs.
Dravid got it wrong at the bidding. Kallis, Jaffer, Chanderpaul, Kumble, Joshi - these guys are not 20-20 material.
R,
Mallya has already swung into action. Charu Sharma out, VPrasad on the way out and Dravid will follow soon.
