IPL - BCCI's hidden agenda

Abdul Ruff writing in Global Politician says:

India has now endeavored to use the available international cricket mastery drawn form countries to train the Indian cricketers both the current teams and the junior ones.

He adds,

“The expertise of these cricketers is being used by India to make a strong contingent of Indian cricketers with surplus, so that Indian team can withstand any pressure form countries like Australia , South Africa , West India , Sri Lanka and Pakistan , etc. With a “formidable” national team with extra members always ready, India would be able to win every match it plays any where and it needs not go appeasing the foreign governments or cricket mafia for crucial victories with necessary “suitable favors”.

He makes it sound as if it is a deliberate strategy by India to take over the (cricketing) world. Having always considered the BCCI to be a mindless entity, this sounds far-fetched.

However, one agrees if IPL prepares Indian cricketers to face any opposition and win, then it is a worthwhile exercise.

Do you think is it a cold-blooded strategy by the BCCI?

whether its a thoughtful strategy or not, it sure will go a long way in establishing India as one of the strongest sides in world cricket.

Read my post on India's bench.

There's no doubt about how these young cricketers will improve by playing along side Gilchrist, McGrath, Warne, etc.

Come to think of it with all these Aussie retired cricketers, Aussie domestic cricketers, Aussie coaches, Aussie assistant coaches, Aussie strength trainers, Aussie captains (Warne, Gilly) and everything else Aussie in the IPL, it probably is a blatant effort by Lalit Modi & Co. to transfer knowledge and power from Australia to India.

The moment they wear the indian team jersey they will play like an Indian team as hitherto, with all its warts and all. This enthusiasm is purely money driven. Aussies may come teach but will our boys learn?

Nope, I doubt if it will change too many things. T20 is a very different game. That aside, I'm with ravindran on this. Put the youngster in the Indian team and he will have to deciede whose side he is on (Tendulkar/Ganguly/Dravid/Dhoni/etc). Any IPL knowledge gained, will at this point, mostly likely go out the window.

BCCI and strategy, Ott are u out of ur minds? With all the beurocrats sitting in the top management of IPL, its only politics that they can think of.

Ott, I wont say deliberation strategy but it is the first step towards India's domination of world cricket on the field. Off it they've been dominating for a decade almost.

The recruitment of the Aussies is a delibirate strategy. Obviously the franchises want the best cricketers, coaches, and support staff. But I do believe there was a deliberate effort to rope in as many Aussies as possible in order to learn tricks of the trade from them.
