Akram wants to replace Lawson

Former Pakistan captain Wasim Akram has expressed his desire to coach the national team if the PCB offered him a job.

Akram has turned Lawson’s absence into an opportunity to declare his intent. For the record, Lawson will join the training camp of the team for a tri-nation tournament in Bangladesh from June 8.

It is interesting to speculate what made Akram express his desire to coach Pakistan now. Is the PCB unhappy with Lawson? On the other hand, did some disgruntled elements in the PCB prompt Akram.

Surely, when it comes to politicking, the PCB takes the lead.

Wasim Akram is holding a camp for fast bowlers in Lahore. The same one which was held last year where Sohail Tanvir was discovered.

During the camp, a press reporter asked Wasim Akram if he wanted to coach Pakistan.

Wasim Akram said he would love to if offered.

Thats all folks :-)

Q,

Then why did he make snide comments about Lawson's absence? :)

He was asked whether Geoff Lawson was doing a good job in his opinion and Wasim Akram said that he thought he was but he should have been here at the camp to see the pace talent in the country.

Hmm.. did he say something else?

Its not about politicking, I think PCB are coming to their senses, their is a series coming up the coach is on vacation, and who is coaching in the academy? Its Mudassar Nazar, Aqib Javed and Wasim Akram.

I have always been against foreign coaches,Akram can lift the team up,and their are some really good young bowlers in the academy who need Akram's guidance.

And guess what? don't be surprised if Salim Malik comes as batting coach in the academy in few months.
