One suspects that Sachin's attempt to play the first test against South Africa when he was unfit was to fool the cricket loving public into believing that he picked the injury during the game. What he has done by playing in the Chepauk Test is to buy time to be fit for the IPL.
Instead of taking him to task for declaring himself fit when he was not, the BCCI is happy to announce that he will regain fitness in time for the inaugural IPL tournament.
In his recent interviews, Sachin says he wants to win a World Cup and makes it a point to state that as he is unsure of his fitness and henceforth he will take it one game at a time.
By stating his aim of winning a World Cup, Sachin has prepared the ground for prolonging his career and by saying that he will take it one game at a time he is saying that he will pick and choose matches to play.
This leaves team
The pity is the organisation that should have seen through Sachin's ploy is hand in glove with him. It is obvious that Sachin has only his interest at heart.

game is bigger than any individual-- this doesnt apply to sachin. u will remember that sometime back the board asked him to choose which match to play. after giving him a lifetime licence u cannot question him. it is sad that sachin doesnt realise that he is standing in the way of another budding youngster. if he continues with this kind of choosing and discarding matches he may not have a memorable exit from int crckt.
His pals in the BCCI will ensure that he has a fitting farewell, maybe a crore rupees as parting gift.
did he not pass a fitness test before Chennai? yet another inconvenient truth.
another inconvenient truth will be he could have got more rest for IPL by declaring himself unfit and gloster report only suggested he needs two-three weeks rest...
NC,
He declared himself fit.
Pan,
Hmm that is also a posssibility.
Wow... this is some twist :)... Personally I want someone to explain this huge injury contribution fiasco... like Nc said, an inconvenient truth... looks like we are aping the pompous Australians.
