Derbyshire have admitted defeat in their battle against the sun and will spend £100,000 on rotating their square at the County Ground through 90 degrees at the end of the season to ensure that play is no longer halted by the setting sun behind the bowler's arm.
Either the architect has never played cricket or worse the administrators have not. If one of them did play cricket they would have certainly considered the setting sun.

It actually came about, before the advent of day/night cricket, and late finishing games.
When the ground was built, all games finished at 6.30 at the very latest. No late finishes, no problem with the setting sun.
It's only since the 50over and 20over revolutions that the problem has come about.
