Imtiaz Patel, opts out:
"My family and I have reflected deeply on the wonderful opportunity which the ICC presented to me to fulfil such an important role in a sport that is in my blood. After considering my position carefully, I have, however, resolved to remain in my beloved country,
It is intriguing that people cite family, friends and country when they opt out of a job. Surely interested parties would have sounded him out, before forwarding his candidature.
Don't they consult family and friends before applying or is it an excuse for having second thoughts?

Have you seen a picture of this guy, they couldn't give him the job, no one could look at him and not get depressed.
hmm...its time for bindra to get the job!!!
Saw his photo on your blog.
Seems to have been dropped on his head during his childhood.
KP,
They have shortlisted a SA of Indian origin.
A protea is still a protea - how does the "indian origin" matter?
Homer,
Maybe he will be favourably disposed to India. :)
such excuses are used when you realise that you have no chance of winning ;)
Philip,
He chickened out. :)
Question is did he apply at all?
I think the Indians paid him off and promised Supersport some rights in the future :-)
Good deal brokered there.
somewhere something similar happened...and i cant remember where and when it happened ;-))
John,
I am not sure whether he applied. But he was approached, interviewed and his consent was taken before the announcement.
I think his employers gave him an counter offer.:)
Q,
You certainly have an active imagination.
Pan,
You don't say! :)
Strange...perhaps he changed his mind subsequently. Men may not like to admit that they aren't ready for the job for it may hurt their other interests to be seen as wimping out of a responsibility.
Soulberry,
It is a childish excuse.
Like sick leave for diarrhoea?
I guess something scares off these guys when they peep into the den they aspired to.
Cold feet.:)
