I made a similar rant but I still feel the format has not become irrelevant yet. Only thing is, they have to streamline things, weed out the parasites and schedule it right.

I agree that the format is still relevant. However, they have wrongly concluded the IPL is the main cause.
I think they should seriously look at the pitches.
The IPL is run by private organizations who are answerable to their shareholders and risk their brand. Test cricket is also run by private organizations but are answerable to ABSOLUTELY NO ONE and have nothing to protect. Not even their respective governments (in most cases at least...including India).
Where is the incentive to reform cricket? And if money was to be made in Test Cricket, a Reliance or a SRK would have invested in it. Its a format that will die as a commercial asset. It will exist for centuries on end and continue to get more and more irrelevant.
Cricket has been run by a private cartel. Now that there is competition the cartel does not know how to respond. Actually legalizing drugs will have a similar effect on drug cartels. We may just have a good case study here...

Yes, legalising IPL would do. However, I intrigued why a 100 year old game is feeling the heat of a 2 year old upstart.
