Sehwag out of the ODI series

It appears that Sehwag's injury is severe enough to leave India without its most accomplished batsmen for the rest of the series.

Without Sehwag in its ranks, the series is as good as over for India.

Kohli who played in his stead looks patently undercooked and unfortunately, the composition of the squad is such that there is no apt replacement.

If India were to entertain any hope of winning matches in this series, they would do well to look at Irfan Pathan as an opener.

Likewise, Badrinath should be included to bolster the middle order.

india should go for the jugular now - open with yuvraj. break him in a bit before the spinners come on. msd needs to come up too. and what about sehwag's replacement -that'll be interesting.

Kohli would be a better bet in tests. He can replace one of the the flabs.

Am with you on this... Kohli has to go to mama's house and play domestic cricket irrespective of whether he scores or not.

India will still win the series. Not to worry :P

NC,

I disagree, if they promote Yuvi, Kohli will still stay. If that happens there is no wplace for Badri. :)

R,

Kohli is uncomfortable and jumpy at the crease. Reminds me of Kaif. Badri is a much safer bet for the Tests.

Scorpi,

I doubt whether he will be forced to do that. He has some powerful backers and this means he will a permanent fixture on tours.

Philip,

A hurray for your optimism. :)

Yusuf Pathan or Asnodkar, Dhawan as replacement for opening though Yuvi is interesting as well... Kohli at the top looks like a lamb for slaughter.

RS,

In all probability it will be Yusuf who will come in as a replacement to Sehwag.

Yes they can try "snick specialist" Asnoodkar who can throw his bat around and who knows he may succeed.

ott - india's success, if any, will be defined by their openers. better to go hard staright on, and have some momentum (feet n mind moving) by the time spinners come on, then be frozen. After Sehwag, like it or not, Yuvraj is India's best one man army. Inspiration is called for, and MSD's Dravidian patch has started. It'll be good tho, if he promotes himself too.

NC,

I agree that some bold strokes are called for. Ideally,MSD and Yuvi should take it to Mendis.

I dont judge players by his score or his term at the crease. I think he has patience to play longer innings.
