IPL: Kolkatta KnightRiders are readying themselves for the next season

It is a pleasant surprise to observe Shah Rukh Khan’s Kolkatta KnightRiders prepare themselves professionally for the 2009 IPL season.

Their Captain, Saurav Ganguly, is already ruminating on what went wrong with their last year’s campaign. KKR’s coach John Buchanan is scouting for new talent in Mumbai. He is to follow it up with expeditions to Delhi and Kolkatta.

Surely, KKR is determined to leave nothing to chance and give the other franchisees a good run for their money.

Are the other franchisees awake to the threat?

The first tournaament all the teams treated it like a picnic. NOw that they have been bitten somewhat they r trying to prepare for the second edition.

Good to see it gradually settling into a professional mould.

R,

You are right. Mallya is a typical example. He completely misjudged the tournament and was left with a 'Test' side.

However, I thought excepting Mumbai, where they went for the big names all the others did well right from the bidding process.

Yes Soulberry, as R commented the initial gung ho attitude has changed to a much more pragmatic attitude.

Remember my prediction that India will win the series? Iam proven right eh.. hahaha

If my life depended on one innings and i had to ask someone to play for me, it would be Dhoni. Simply because he knows his job. And gets it done. He doesnt complicate things.

For all the thousands of runs, i have no such trust in Tendulkar. Sadly.

Philip,

I agree with you. In a life and death situation if you are asked to choose between MSD or SRK as a lifeline, I will go for MSD.

I predicted Indias victory at the start of the series basing on our tendency to fare better in either or test series when they r played against the same rival one after another.
