Chennai Super Kings trim squad

Chennai Super Kings sends back Vidyut Sivaramakrishnan, Srikkanth Anirudha, Suresh Kumar, Abhinav Mukund and Napoleon Einstein from their 28-man squad.

By axing batsmen Vidyut and Anirudha, it appears CSK is keen to have bowlers on their bench, a view expressed by Chandrasekhar the team manger.

However, if you look at the performances in the first game, then CSK needs bolster its batting.

What do you think, have they done the right thing?

AS is a good batsman. The cost cutting was necessary though. Time will tell whether keeping all the bowlers was the right move.

I think you have 4 players for 3 spots Badri, Vijay, Patel and Raina -- doubt the other would have got a chance anyway and in case the batting gets into so much trouble, they can pull in George Bailey :)

BTW, what do you think of VB's blog -- does not look to be ghost written -- and seems interesting

Ankit/RS,

I was thinking of Parthiv Patel. I found his retention strange considering he was average last year.

RS,

I like his blog and as you said written by himself. I am keeping a close eye on it.:)

Other teams will also follow suit. It seems they were taken to witness the opening ceremony. These guys will never play in any matches anyway.
