A super over

West Indies made history in the Twenty20 International, against New Zealand at Auckland by winning the first super over eliminator ever.

Readers may remember India’s thrilling win against Pakistan in the Twenty20 World Cup. There India won by a shoot out, i.e., the winner was decided based on number of wickets, whereas here the winner was decided based on a mixture of runs and wickets scored in one over.

The scores:

West Indies 155-8 (20 over’s) tied with New Zealand 155-7 (20 over’s) WI won by 10 runs in super-over

Scorpi,

Imagine it to be an one over ODI. The team that scores the most with least wicket loss wins.
