Sri Lanka's tour of Pakistan is officially on.

Sri Lanka has finally confirmed the month-long tour of Lankan cricket team set to begin on January 20.

Though Sri Lanka unhesitatingly stepped in to the breech created by India’s cancellation of its tour to Pakistan, the fate of the tour was in doubt when the interim cricket committee led by former Sri Lankan captain Arjuna Ranatunga was unceremoniously dissolved.

The Sports Minister further added to the confusion when he indicated that  as they did not intend to upset the Indian Government, he CSL would have to examine the tour . Finally, despite these confusions the Sri Lankan President in consultation with the foreign minister has given the ‘go ahead’ for the tour.

The decision to tour clearly indicates to the world that the Indian government, nee the BCCI does not control cricket in the Indian sub-continent and its high time the former cricketers and administrators to stop carping about the power of the BCCI.

Message is clear. Pakistan and Srilanka will try to diminish the clout of India from now on. Though Srilanka might lose some respect from the Indian camp they have decided to tour Pakistan.THe least the players from the three countries can do is to keep mum and not create more misunderstanding. THe concept of Asian Bloc has taken a beating.

R,

Yes there is going to be a realignment. Somehow I feel the Pakistanis have to depend on India. The Sri Lankan's can only hope that they will be rewarded.

Contrary to popular belief I think we r going to be the one to be isolated in Asia. Our relationship will never be the same with Pakistan ,that is definite. Some of our players reportedly didnt want to go there but we managed to pull England back for the tests. This is the sore point.

R,

Pakistan cricket is in a deep mess. People like Miandad will certainly lord over its remains.
