The English team in limbo

8.15 A.M. UPDATE:

HARMISON TO RETURN

England fast bowler Steve Harmison would probably return to India next week to play a two-test series if the latest security report was positive.

The England and Wales Cricket Board’s Managing Director, Hugh Morris and Professional Cricketers’ Association’s Chief Executive, Sean Morris, will make a final assessment of the security measures in place before submitting their report on Sunday.

With the situation regarding the tour remaining unclear, reports from Abu Dhabi suggest that the English players are in a state of limbo. Though the England coach Peter Moores sounds trite, there is truth in what he says.

“Mentally, everyone has to assume we are going. It’s about (getting) your skills ready to go as a batter or a bowler: it’s such a quick turnaround now, so the lads have got to get themselves (together) really quickly if they are going to be ready. Hopefully we can take our full-strength side there, compete, win the series and have a good Christmas.”

Let us hope that the ECB takes a firm decision today.
