Expectedly, India’s thumping victory at Mohali, has everyone contemplating the future of Australian cricket.
Mike Selvey of the Guardian compares the Australian team to the global economy and concludes both are in recession.
Malcolm Conn in The Australian finds a similarity between the current situation and the one that prevailed between Australia and West Indies during Australia’s quest for ascendancy.
The celebrated cricket columnist Peter Roebuck blamed Australia’s arrogance and said that Ponting’s claim that India was a team in a time wrap backfired.
K.R. Nayar, Senior Reporter for the Gulf News believes that the huge margin of victory, 320 runs to be precise, has shaken the balance of power in the cricketing world.
Angus Fraser writes that though the Australian’s were crushed they cannot be written off.
The best analysis came from Ponting – he said that India played like Australia, which is indeed high praise.
The final word however was said by The guy of the Internet, “Cricket just became exciting again! Australia has dominated too long, its about time the other sides started aggressively taking the game to the once unstoppable Aussies. The Arnie line comes to mind here: If it bleeds, you can kill it.”

hmmm...some q that...
india has had history of not turning up for game being favorite...which is why we dont win back to back matches...as often as we should...infact i think since that famous 2001 series we have not won it...(if my memory serves me right)...
i agree with homer when he said...right now india can be defeated by india only...
i want to come in delhi with clean slate and charging...
yes oz are on mat...bt still it will be premature to write them off for series...
i want india to keep the foot on oz throat till it kills them no letting off...
ruthless killer instinct is what i want them to exhibit...
can india do it?
THe Aussies can tinker a bit with their bating order . It might work for them
Pan,
Excellent. You have amplified every Indian's thoughts and fears.
R,
I believe their failure is due to paucity in bowling resources. Their batting and their batting order is excellent.
Has anyone seen Greg Chappell lately? He's still there, right?
NC,
Off to Brisbane.
The criticism of their press and our euphoric statements are overdone without a shadow of doubt. See what these Aussies have done, a single test loss makes the word cheer... how desperate the world is to beat them? Unbelievable but am loving it, part of a sad system that we cannot deliver a champion side but gloat over any win over them. Am guilty as hell too.
Scorpi,
Yours is a refreshing opinion. BTW, I am enjoying it too.:)
