Reuters quotes an unnamed BCCI official as saying "They have been given the next two home series to time a graceful exit following which they are open to the axe."
It is maddening to see Laxman included in the list of ageing superstars.
If I am not mistaken, Laxman is just a few months older than Ponting and far from being a drooling veteran.

Then how or when did he join the list?

he must have 'knee' rolled into this list...
Pan,
It beyond that. Maybe unsympathetic selectors.
have you changes the 'feed' ott?
my live feed still showing your 'badri digs his grave' post as latest one...
Pan,
My feed is unchanged. Even I am getting only that post in my Reader.
alright, this is another shit from media....nothin more than INDIA TV stuff
Interestingly, Kumble has asked the press to treat the 'seniors' with diginity.
The flab/drab five will not retire. What we need is a kick out plan by the selectors. No other way. U cannot talk them into retirement.
R,
Neither party is willing to set things in motion. It is an impasse.
Thats made up Ott.. It never happens here in India.
ott - in that case, bcci should add punter in the list too.
--- to the list.
can't have grammar screwing the list!
The question naturally which comes to mind is why December? Why not a weekend in May...or a damp morning in September? Does that spokesperson have a poetic sense of illusion? Firstly selecting for graceful exit purposes (which never comes incidentally) and second, December and therefore Winter...how metaphorical can BeaStyCI be?
Tri,
For the sake of 'change' I am willing to believe in it. :)
NC,
The logic is compelling.:)
Soulberry,
It is not an arbitrary date. The seniors are expected to retire at the end of the England Test series. :)
