If you cannot read Mendis, blame your cricket gear

How much more ridiculous can it get. Ranil Abeynaike says that "Modern cricketing gear make Mendis difficult to crack".

I would not be surprised if other cricketing experts spring out of the woodwork to claim that a batsmen should have been breast fed as an infant to play Mendis.

Continuing the trend of so-called cricket experts, I call upon you the real experts, i.e., readers of this blog to contribute your expert opinion on why Indians find Mendis unplayable.

For starters, contemplate; has Deepika Padukone anything to do with it?

Ott, 'tis not fair! To conceal info and ask us to ponder...however, I have veered round to one reason after observing all the batsmen thus far - confidence.

Overconfidence in the case of the young and a mix of that and underconfidence in those who are teetering on the edge...or so as the winds appear to be howling into their ears.

By and large India underestimated Lanka and Mendis..initially, they didn't even think about him perhaps till the Kitply happened. Even then they thought it wa a one-off.

For the biggies, they were more preoccupied with staving off proponents of young wolves, banging at their doors to apply much thought to a new specific like Mendis. It must have been a mere blip in their preoccupied minds till that mere blip turned out to be the sidewinder missile hightailing them towards history rather. I think they call it a rude awakening.

Becos the ab guards are made of wrought iron?
I guess he must be refering to the heavy protective gears .

Apurv,

Lets hope they give him as many chances as they gave Yuvi. Incidentally, Yuvi has played 23 Tests in the space of 8 years and we still consider him a test prospect. :)

Soulberry,

I felt that the oldies refused to learn. A case of closed minds?

R,

What has guards to do with reading a Mendis delivery? :)

LVISS said...

Hawk eye.

R,

You mean the guard's were getting in the way?

If that is what you meant I agree.

forget mendis... their seam bowlers are way better than expected.

Scorpi,

We are losing the game there.

LVISS said...

Scorpcity is right ,we concentrate on Mendis while their pace bowlers bend us peacefully.
